Assessment is an ongoing process at Johnson Fold in all age groups. Staff are continually assessing what children can do, where problems lie and what children need to do next.
This might be done through observation of the children, discussion, marking as well as more formal testing. These findings then inform planning, learning and teaching to ensure that every child's individual needs are catered for.
As assessments are recorded half termly in Reading, Writing and Maths this allows us to track the progress (achievement) and level (attainment) of the children, and provide extra support or challenge where needed.
In the summer term children in Y6 take external exams in Reading, Writing and Maths known as SATs. Children in Y2 to Y5 also sit more formal tests in the summer term.
